Employee Spotlight!!! – Ron Barfield

This November, in honor of Veterans Day, we’re proud to spotlight one of our own veterans, Ron Barfield Jr. With 37 years of service to the company and a distinguished background as a former jet mechanic in the U.S. Navy, Barfield is the embodiment of dedication and hard work. His journey with us is a testament to his commitment and the value he brings to the team.

Barfield started his career with us in July of 1988, joining as a wrench-turner in the prototype division. Over the years, he worked his way up through the ranks, building an impressive knowledge of the machines and operations that drive our business. Today, he serves as Operations Manager, overseeing the assembly area, the paint shop at Central, and a variety of daily responsibilities that take him across the plant. His role is demanding, but it’s clear from his leadership and extensive experience that he thrives in this hands-on, fast-paced environment.

When asked about his most meaningful accomplishment at the company, Barfield shared that it’s been the opportunity to see his growth firsthand. From starting on the shop floor to now managing operations, he’s proud of the progress he’s made and the depth of knowledge he’s gained along the way. He’s not only become an expert in the machines and processes we use every day but also in guiding the teams that help get the job done.

For Barfield, one of the most fulfilling aspects of his work is the knowledge that he’s contributing to a great American business. He takes immense pride in the fact that the products the company manufactures are made right here in the U.S., with no oceans separating them from their customers. But what truly makes the job meaningful to him is the team he’s a part of. To Barfield, it’s the people who make the workplace exceptional, and he’s proud to be part of such a strong, collaborative team. He also finds great satisfaction in the hands-on nature of his work, particularly in building the machines that cut various types of steel—a process he finds both challenging and rewarding.

Outside of work, Barfield is a family man who enjoys spending time with his wife, Diana, of 41 years, and their two children. Together, they have seven grandchildren, who are the light of his life. When he’s not with his grandkids, Barfield enjoys working on cars, a hobby he’s had for many years. Though he used to race dirt cars, he admits it’s an expensive hobby—one that he’s had to scale back in recent years! He also enjoys his time at church and is always ready to lend a hand to those in need, particularly when it comes to helping others with car problems. Barfield’s generosity and willingness to help those around him keeps him busy, as he’s often found fixing cars or offering assistance to family and friends.

With 37 years of service at the company and a family legacy that spans over 80 years in total, Barfield’s impact is undeniable. His story with HE&M Saw is one of perseverance, pride, and loyalty—not just to his work, but to the people and values that matter most to him. We are proud to have him as part of our team and grateful for all the hard work and dedication he continues to give every day.

Thank you, Barfield, for your service to our country, your many years of commitment to this company, and for being such a positive influence to those around you!
